Newfoundland and Labrador Crown Land
Most of Newfoundland and Labrador's land base is Crown land by default, managed by the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture — land only leaves Crown ownership when a title is granted. This vast territory spans boreal forest, coastal barrens, fjords and the Labrador wilderness, and is open for free camping, hunting and fishing outside titled and protected areas. The province is especially renowned for moose and caribou hunting, Atlantic salmon fishing, and remote backcountry exploration across Newfoundland and Labrador.
