Crown Land in the Interlake
The Interlake is the strip of farmland, bush and marsh between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba. Its lakeshores have their own pages (Gimli, Hecla-Grindstone and Lake Manitoba), so this one is centred inland, on Fisher Branch, where the public land is a patchwork of wildlife management areas and game bird refuges. The Roy Lake refuge is about 8 km away, Broad Valley WMA 13 km and Ewonchuk WMA 19 km, and the Sleeve Lake, Lee Lake, Sharpewood and Mantagao Lake WMAs are 24 to 34 km out. The Moose Creek Provincial Forest starts about 27 km away. The fishing is mostly small lakes and creeks, Roys Lake (9 km), Blind Creek (10 km), Otter Lake (16 km) and the East Fisher River (22 km), with 15 on our map within 25 km. The Interlake Forest Centre campground at Hodgson is about 10 km away and Arborg's Old Town Campground 35 km. This page rounds up the region's public land, fishing spots, campgrounds and road trips.
