Crown Land around Spruce Woods
Spruce Woods Provincial Park, about 268 km² on the Assiniboine River south of Carberry, is best known for the Spirit Sands, open sand dunes in the middle of the prairie. This page is centred on Kiche Manitou, the park's campground and beach area. The Spruce Woods Provincial Forest surrounds the park, its main block about 520 km², and the Spruce Woods and Assiniboine Corridor wildlife management areas are both about 8 km away. Criddle/Vane Homestead Provincial Park and the Tiger Hills WMA are about 25 km out. Fishing is limited to small lakes and the river: Marshs Lake, 1 km away, has channel catfish, perch and pike on the province's records, and Epinette Creek, 6 km, has brook trout. Dusty Mile Outfitters is about 4 km away, and 13 campgrounds lie within 50 km. This page rounds up the region's public land, fishing spots, campgrounds and road trips.
