Regulations

A Manitoba angling licence and barbless hooks are required; the Sandilands are in the Southern Division, where walleye close April 6 to May 8. The forest is dry, sandy pine country, so open fires need an approved pit or a burning permit from April 1 to November 15, and fire and travel restrictions can close forest roads in a dry summer. Live bait fish will be banned province-wide from April 1, 2027.
