The Acadian Peninsula is the heart of Acadian identity in Atlantic Canada. Caraquet, the cultural capital, hosts the Acadian Festival (August, the world's largest Acadian festival) and the Village Historique Acadien.

The Village Historique Acadien (45 period buildings 1770–1949) recreates 200 years of Acadian history with costumed interpreters. The August 15 tintamarre (Acadian National Day) animates the peninsula — parades, cooking pots, music. Miscou Island and Lamèque Island (baroque music festival) nearby.
