Winter fishing on Garland River
Garland River is in the Southern Division of Manitoba's angling regulations. Walleye and sauger are open May 9, 2026 to April 4, 2027, and most other species all year. The 2026 Anglers' Guide has no entry of its own for this water, so the provincial limits and the division rules apply.
- Shelters off by March 31, 2027, except March 14 on the Red River and March 15 in Area B (southwestern Manitoba), or sooner if a Conservation Officer orders it.
- Live bait fish are not allowed on stocked trout waters. From April 1, 2027, live bait fish and leeches will be banned everywhere in Manitoba.
- You may fish with two lines through the ice (one in open water), with no more than two hooks or lures per line, and you must stay within 50 m of your lines.
- Barbless hooks are required on every line in Manitoba, ice fishing included.
Nearest climate station reporting snow: Swan River Rcs (72 km away), 1 cm on the ground on October 29.
